uscss democritus
the uscss democritus is a research vessel owned by weyland-yutani corporation that, much like its predecessors the uscss maginot and the uscss nostromo, was sent into deep space to research and retrieve alien specimen and technologies and bring back to earth.

the ship is classified as a scientific exploratory vessel manufactured by weyland corp which includes the dual ftl engine system which revolutionized space travel in 2031. it is powered by a 2.1 terrawatt rl fusion reactor much liek the heliades-class j and has a cargo capacity of 9 megatonnes. fitted with ai-integrated systems, holographic and augmented reality interfaces, quantum computing systems and even a hydroponics garden for food and oxygen recycling, the uscss democritus offers a wide array of support for crew capable of lasting lightyears of travel through space.

along with the common, ship-necessary facilities such as the bridge and main engineering and computer core hubs, facilities include various labs to study the vastness and space and all found within (astrometrics, xenobiology and exoecology, and planetary sciences), support facilities to provide care and comfort to all passengers (medical bay, living quarters, recreation deck, mess hall and psychological support center), and exploration and mission units for any offboard needs (hangar, landing pods and drop bays, and cargo bay).

the defense systems include deflector shields, emergency escape pods and non-lethal weapon systems such as ion beams and electromagnetic pulses if the ship enters dangerous or unknown territories. there is also an armory on board, however kept under lock and released only in an emergency.
official orders
mission orders: uscss democritus
designation: scientific & exploratory retrieval operation – codename: project omphalos
issued: [classified]
authorization code: wy-37D9-omph-221b
vessel serial: uscss democritus – nx-88247
captain: [pending]
executive officer: [pending]
ai system: mother-10 / subroutine “iris”

objective: the uscss democritus is to depart from [redacted] and proceed into the outer persean expanse under the guise of a long-term exoecological survey mission. the vessel’s primary directive is the identification, acquisition, and containment of non-terrestrial biological and technological specimens, with emphasis on type-vi hostile xenolifeforms and pre-human or non-anthropogenic technological artifacts.

all viable material is to be transported, under secure cryo-containment, to obsidian veil, where further analysis, exploitation, and proprietary research will be conducted under strict non-disclosure protocols (ndp-9).

in the event of a xenopathologenic breach, initiate lockdown of affected compartments and trigger incineration protocols. in the event of crew insubordination, ai is authorized to initiate psychological suppression programs and override life-support access on a case-by-case basis. in the event of mission compromise, self-destruct authorization codes are embedded in the command crew’s neural implants. activation requires dual confirmation.

crew psychological well-being is a non-critical priority and will be maintained at minimal effective levels until otherwise ordered.

contact with previous vessels has not been reestablished. assume risk is present. if a ghost signature is detected, following the protocol: board the vessel and conduct black-box retrieval, crew logs recovery, and environmental data sweep; and prioritize acquisition of biological evidence, specimen storage units, and unknown cargo manifest. i xeno-contamination is suspected, seal samples in deck c – quarantine module and initiate iris containment protocol alpha.

secondary objectives: if ship ai is intact, extract memory core. if vessel registry is weyland-yutani-owned, classify mission as historical recovery protocol 3.11 and execute full memory preservation with discretion. if their crew exhibits psychological instability, noncompliance, or evidence of infection/contact with xeno-biological matter, sever communications and initiate observation mode gamma. survivors who display anomalous knowledge, genetic alteration, or xeno-interaction may be transferred to obsidian veil in cryostasis under high-security containment.

specimens classified under xenoform: designate “alpha-black” are to be prioritized above crew survival.

under no circumstances are non-weyland-yutani personnel to be made aware of project omphalos, directive 937. crew who compromise operational secrecy may be designated as "expendable liabilities" and reassigned under protocol black veil.

these addenda are self-deleting if access is unauthorized. viewing without clearance will result in iris executing neural stun protocols.
